Chateau Montelena Bottle Set
After a successful run for several years with a 6-bottle gift box, Chateau Montlelena discovered an increase in competitors offering the same style of gift boxes as theirs. To distinguish themselves again, Chateau Montelena sought our guidance in creating an innovative solution for their 6-bottle gift sets that offered a unique consumer experience while using thoughtful applications of print to tell their brand story.
Initial concepts explored various opening methods and layered unboxing experiences. These took inspiration from the jewelry industry, clothing, high-end gifts, and wine cellars.
The idea of elevated bottles in a 2x6 configuration resonated most strongly with the customer and provided the guiding direction for initial engineering and prototyping.
Prototypes allowed the customer to experience the concepts firsthand and brought light to the scale and weight of the packaging assembly.
Considerations of the package footprint, bottle visibility, and novelty of the experience and it’s consistency to the vineyard’s on-premise experience led the customer to select the final concept in the bottom right.
The production concept utilized a French door-style opening that mirrors the doors of the vineyard and utilizes the inside of the flaps to tell the brand and product story.
The bottles are secured with layered corrugate encapsulating the top and bottom of each bottle, creating space between the packages and providing the desired floating illusion. this allowed our graphics team to create a backdrop image to frame the bottles.
Access is provided by a fold-up panel that disengages the bottles and allows customers to remove each bottle individually.
